The Red Pony

Has everyone read the Steinbeck classic, The Red Pony? So many of us stop with The Grapes of Wrath, but John Steinbeck was far more prolific than one fine novel.

If you have not had a chance to read it, do so. You will not regret it. It is stocked at local libraries everywhere. It is a good read!

  1. Okay fin, I added it to my to-read list at Goodreads. Lists getting pretty long, but I've always had a thing for horses. It is about a horse, right? Not one of those metaphoric teases?

  2. You know I have and also read Grapes of Wrath... I cried through the Red Pony... After reading that back in 6th grade, I loved reading Steinbeck's other books.

  3. I am looking for a good book to read while flying later this month.....I shall have to put it on the list and see I like Steinbeck's writing....! Although if tissues are required I'd rather not take it on a plane! Have a great weekend JJ! Happy Friday the 13th!

  5. I've never read it, but I love to read. Very soon I'll actually have time for a new story, great suggestion! Miriam@Meatless Meals For Meat Eaters

  6. Nicki: Yes, it is a real horse, but you must read much into it.

KBF: It's like reading Old Yeller' a second time as an adult (if it was ever a book).

Karen: It's not the book that would make me cry, but the plane flight. Although I travel often, I hate flying.

Ames: Let me know what you thought once you have read it.

Miriam: I think you could have written it, because you "feel."
